In this article I’m going to show you how to quit smoking through hypnosis by helping you understand how hypnosis works to get your subconscious to shift your thoughts from negative expectations to positive expectations. Then I’ll show you how you can use that shift to transform your quitting smoking effort into a truly self-empowering experience.

It’s no secret that an estimated 95% to 97% of smokers all across the world who try to quit smoking fail within the first year of attempting to break free of their nicotine addiction. Most fail in the first two weeks. You’ll find that statistic plastered all over the internet, from one authority site to another. What may come as a surprise to you
however, is that the failure rate of those who try to quit can be attributed to one simple thing…internal thought processes…not to the severity of nicotine addiction. Of the 3% to 5% who successfully remain non smokers after one year, nearly 90% of them quit cold turkey by using nothing more than will power alone.

So, What exactly is it that separates winners from losers in their quest to end their smoking addiction?

Simply attributing success to a strong will power is only part of the answer. Yes, a strong will power was the one consistent factor in succeeding where others failed, but there is more to it than that. How did those individuals acquire a strong enough will power to succeed while others remain unable to do so? An even better question is, can anyone learn to improve their will power enough to succeed where they have failed before? That’s the really important question.

Before we can answer that question, we first need to have an understanding of what will power truly is.

Will power, is as the words suggest, a mental process of projecting wants, desires and thoughts into action by nothing more than the use of one’s will to do so. Having will power is having the bility to force yourself by thought processes to take action and see something through to completion.

So, why do some folks seem to have an abundance of will power and others seem to have little to none?

Here’s where it gets interesting. The subconscious mind is far more powerful than your conscious mind. It’s job is to serve and protect you without you having to do much conscious thought about your daily life. Your subconscious mind is also what is able to drive your will power to achieve marvelous results if you simply learn how to properly instruct it to do so.

If you’ve ever gone to a psychologist or known anyone who has gone for therapy for any reason, and let’s just use depression as an example, you may have noticed that psychologists tend to zoom in on particular words and phrases that you choose to use during your session. There is a reason they do that, and it isn’t just to get you to tell them what you are thinking or how you are feeling, it’s to get you to reveal the way you think, not the actual thoughts themselves.

You see, words have power. Words instruct our subconscious to do and think whatever we want it to believe. The words we choose and use in our daily speech, as well as the internal dialog inside our heads when we daydream or dwell upon any thought or subject also have power. Our entire outlook on life in general can be directly traced back to the words we use inside our heads when we are thinking about anything. So too, do the words we use in general day to day conversation when we communicate with others. Those words give insight into how we do simple things like problem solving, or explain why we behave the way we do.

So how does this relate to quitting smoking?

Most smokers will say something like this when asked why they don’t quit smoking…"I’ve tried to quit but quitting is too hard, I just can’t." Well guess what? They are right. I’m sad to say, they really can’t. It isn’t because quitting is too hard though. It’s because they have convinced their subconscious to believe that it is, by not carefully choosing words that enlist their subconscious into helping rather than giving up.

From early on in life, we begin to use certain words over and over agina, and those words get into our subconscious where basic programming makes our lives work without having to think about it. The subconscious interprets the words we use, to shape not only our outlook on life, but more importantly, how we deal with problems and tasks that we’ll encounter.

Type A, driven people, for example, tend to use powerful, can-do, must do, action driven, success words. They’ve trained their subconscious to get busy and get things done.

On the other hand, people who suffer from depression, as example, use very negative words to describe how they feel and how they see their lives. They use self defeating words like can’t, won’t and never.

It’s the difference between I can do something and I can’t do something, or things can improve or the can’t improve, I can get better or I can’t get better. Psychologists call this self-fulfilling prophecy. If you expect to fail, you generally will fail, if you expect to succeed you generally will succeed. If you expect things will never change, well guess what? They will never change. Not until you change your expectation by changing your words that motivate your subconscious mind to make those changes.

The hardest part of quitting smoking is changing your expectation from quitting being hard, to quitting being easy, thereby removing the self-fulfilling prophecy of not being able to quit because you think you can’t. The process of rewriting the broken programs residing in your subconscious is actually a very easy process to learn. You can quit smoking through hypnosis, because hypnosis allows your conscious mind to work directly with your subconscious mind.

What I hope you’ve gained from this article is that you are far more capable of doing seemingly impossible things than you may be giving yourself credit for.

If you want to learn more about how to change your negative, self-fulfilling prophecies of I can’t to I can, or it’s hard to it’s easy, and learn how to send your subconscious super powerful commands to help you find an easy way to stop smoking, then take a tip from the type ‘A’s of the world and … Get Busy And Get It Done!

Quit Smoking Withdrawal Symptoms – Just Say No!

Without an effective means to deal with nicotine withdrawal symptoms, quitting smoking can be a very miserable experience. How long and how severe symptoms are vary from person to person. However, it’s safe to say they will be their worst during the first 3 days after quitting. Then in the days and weeks to follow they will begin to taper off gradually for weeks or months depending upon the method you choose to quit smoking.

Click Here To Discover The Secret To Eliminate Withdrawal Symptoms Before They Occur!

Let’s take a look at the list of possible symptoms you are likely to experience to one degree or another once you begin your quit smoking program. I’ve broken the symptoms down into two separate groups to show which symptoms are related to nicotine and which are related to psychological elements. Group A is purely psychological in nature, Group B symptoms are actually physical distress caused by nicotine.

Here they are in no particular order, with the exception of placing them into two groups as indicated above…

Group A psychological symptoms: strong craving to smoke, nervousness, irritability, anxiety, depression, fatigue, insomnia and inability to concentrate.

Group B nicotine symptoms: Headache, dizziness, dry mouth, cough, sore throat, sore tongue/gums, postnasal drip, tightness in chest, gastrointestinal discomfort and hot flashes.

Consider this…many people report having cravings to smoke again even years after quitting. The point is this, nearly all quit smoking authority websites list cravings as a nicotine withdrawal symptom. Logic tells us it cannot be related to nicotine addiction. It is actually a withdrawal symptom related to psychological addiction and not to nicotine at all. Because It only takes 3 days for nicotine to be completely removed from the body once it is no longer introduced into the body again. Therefore, cravings to light up again weeks, months or even years later cannot be caused by nicotine withdrawal.

The only conclusion that can possibly be made from this is that any cravings to smoke again after nicotine is gone can only be a symptom of a psychological addiction.

Additionally, we can move nervousness, irritability, anxiety, depression, inability to concentrate, fatigue and insomnia to the psychological side of the addiction equation too. Which leaves nicotine responsible for only headache, dizziness, dry mouth, cough, sore throat, postnasal drip, tightness in chest, gastrointestinal discomfort and hot flashes.

Click Here To Learn How To Avoid Smoking Withdrawal Symptoms Completely!

An astute observer will notice that a new and different method for quitting must be considered, instead of the traditional mainstream methods we find being touted by the quit smoking authorities, if we are effectively going to be able to deal with withdrawal symptoms.

So what are your real options for coping with smoking withdrawal symptoms? Some of the most commonly recommended methods for coping with the urge to smoke by the quit smoking authorities are in no particular order…

Exercise Vigorously
Get Plenty Of Rest
Take Multivitamins
Drink Water when A craving occurs
Relax and Breathe deeply
Distract Yourself When You Feel a Craving
Chew On Gum Or Toothpick
Develop a Support Group or Network

The traditionally recommended ways to cope with withdrawal symptoms work wonderfully with helping reduce Group B symptoms, but offer little help with Group A. Why? because the majority of them are excellent methods for dealing with cold symptoms, which is exactly what nicotine withdrawal symptoms mimic. And the good news is that it only takes 3 days to eliminate nicotine from your system so you can say goodbye to Group B symptoms in 3 days! Which leaves you still needing an effective remedy for Group A symptoms.

If you attempt to quit smoking with traditional methods, you will have no effective means to deal with Group A quit smoking withdrawal symptoms. Those symptoms can be completely eliminated by hypnosis. Which means, if you use hypnosis to quit smoking you can reduce your quit smoking withdrawal symptoms to something no worse than dealing with a mild to moderate cold or flu like symptoms.

The main problem with traditional mainstream quit smoking methods is that cravings to light up and smoke again continue long after nicotine has been completely removed from your body. Without a means to overcome the psychological need to light up again, cravings persist, and well intentioned quitters inevitably succumb to their old habits again within weeks or months.

That’s where hypnosis comes into play. With hypnosis, the cause of cravings are isolated and effectively removed. Nicotine replacement products and designer quit smoking drugs have no effect upon your psychological addiction. If anything, they simply prolong nicotine addiction. Nor do any of the commonly recommended methods for coping with quit smoking withdrawal symptoms have any significant effect on eliminating psychological addiction symptoms.

Will you still suffer from withdrawal symptoms after undergoing hypnosis?

It is probable that you will experience mild symptoms during the first 3 days of quitting. However, the vast majority of successful non smokers who quit using hypnosis report having experienced little, to no symptoms, other than cold like symptoms.

Quitting Smoking doesn’t have to be the most difficult thing you’ve ever done. You really do have a choice.

If you want to quit smoking this article is a lot more important to you than the title suggests.

Should the Supreme Court side with Big Tobacco in their lawsuit against the FDA and President Obama’s Public-Health legislation signed into law this last June?

And what the heck does that have to do with quitting smoking anyway? You might ask.

The answer to the first question is…In my opinion, yes the Supreme Court should rule in favor of Big Tobacco in their claim that it is a violation of their first amendment rights to free speech. My reason for believing this will become quite evident as you read the remainder of this article.

But what the heck does that have to do with quitting smoking anyway?…wait and see. I promise you’ll be surprised.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not in favor of allowing the tobacco industry to continue killing more than 400,000 people each and every year, but I’m also not in favor of the government interfering with the first amendment rights either. That is the first, and fundamentally most important right that each of us as a citizen of the United States is entitled to.

Clearly, this is a first amendment right, at least that’s what the Supreme Court also seemed to believe when they ruled in favor of the tobacco industry in 2001 regarding billboard advertising restrictions.

However, there’s a bigger point here, something nearly everyone is missing. It’s been fairly well hidden by those who want to see the tobacco companies shut down. Again, don’t get me wrong. I’d love to see them go out of business just like many others would. The poisons they’ve willingly pumped into the lungs of people for years is unconscionable.

But that’s not the point.

In June this year (2009), President Obama signed legislation that grants the FDA the right to ban toxic substances in cigarettes as well as place restrictions on the levels of nicotine additives.

Sounds like a wonderful bit of legislation to me, but wait…nicotine was not classified as a toxic substance by this or any other piece of legislation. The FDA was only granted the right to restrict the levels of nicotine additives, not ban it. Consequently, nicotine will be around for a long time to come. And there’s a very good reason why nicotine has not been classified as a toxic chemical with FDA approval to ban it…if the FDA was given power to ban it, the entire pharmaceutical nicotine replacement industry would be put out of business as well. And we all know who’s buttering the FDA’s toast…yep the pharmaceutical industry.

But that’s not the point either.

So what is the point that everyone seems to be missing?

It isn’t the fact that nicotine wasn’t banned, as many will bemoan. The point is something the entire medical community is also missing.

Here’s the point…

By itself, nicotine is neither addictive, nor responsible for more than 400,000 deaths from smoking each year. If it were, don’t you think the thousands of people who use one of the many different nicotine replacement products on the market to help quit smoking would become addicted to those products just as much as they are to smoking cigarettes?

There is plenty of research to support my statement. Smokers are not addicted to nicotine any more than they are addicted to nicotine replacement products. Nicotine is a nasty substance for sure, but it’s only claim to infamy is that it seems to be a master key that, when accompanied by a good dose of hypnotic suggestion, unlocks the real addictive culprit inside the human brain. That substance is Dopamine. It’s the body’s natural "feel good" chemical, designed to help us do things that are good for us,like eating and drinking lots of water, or dressing warm in the winter and staying cool in the summer.

The problem is that the brain get’s tricked into believing smoking is a good thing. That’s where the tobacco industry has done a marvelous job…they’ve brainwashed the public into believing smoking was cool, smoking was pleasurable, smoking was manly or sexy, smoking calmed the nerves, and smoking helped a person think clearly. Reminds me of the Dairy industry’s claims: "Milk, it does a body good," or the beef industry’s motto "beef, it’s what’s for dinner," both are hypnotic advertisements designed to do exactly what the tobacco industry accomplished, hypnotize you to buy more milk and beef. That’s what advertising is supposed to do. The tobacco industry did a top notch job of it.

The tobacco industry’s hypnotic advertising was remarkable and magnificent. To get someone to believe a horrible experience was actually a pleasurable one, took quite a bit of hypnotizing, but they succeeded. They hired some of the best copywriters in the business to produce almost magical advertising that all by itself led people to start a habit that was absolutely a horrible experience for any first time user, yet made them somehow believe it was wonderful.

Without that hypnotic advertising, no one would have gotten hooked on smoking. Hollywood helped glamorize it, and even the U.S. government took part in it, by handing out smokes to G.I.s during WWII and the Korean War. However, be that as it may, the point is that nicotine by itself cannot cause addiction to smoking. It needs the help of a kind of very powerful hypnosis to succeed in causing the brain to release the real addictive chemical dopamine.

Even still, that’s not the point I’m getting to either.

Even if nicotine was capable of causing smoking addiction, anyone quitting for just three days would no longer be addicted. It’s a medical fact that nicotine is completely cleansed from the system after only three days of abstinence. Cravings can and do continue for months and even years afterward, if the person quitting is unaware of how to overcome the real addictive chemical…dopamine. Nicotine is not, and cannot be the addictive chemical we are told it is if it is completely gone in 3 days. Just Click here to download my FREE 22 page Ebook –>>>"Learn How To Tame The Smoking Dragon And Quit Smoking For Life!" to learn how conquer your real addiction to smoking.

So, finally, as I promised, here is the missing point…

The FDA now has the power to ban every one of the more than 4000 toxic chemicals from cigarettes, as well as limit the amount of nicotine additives in cigarettes. By eliminating the poisons, the number of annual deaths related to smoking will begin to tumble, whether people continue to smoke or not. No poisons, no disease, no death.

Did you get the point?

If the FDA simply does it’s job, the job it is obligated to, and authorized by law to do, it makes no difference how the Supreme Court rules on this being a first amendment violation! Let the Supreme Court do it’s job in upholding the first amendment as it is their constitutional duty to do, and let the FDA do it’s job as they are now legally obligated to do. And let smokers across the globe stop dieing from the numerous poisons presently in cigarettes.

So, once again you may be wondering what the heck this has to do with quitting smoking. I’m glad you hung in there long enough to find out.

The medical industry has mistakenly believed, and accepted as fact for many years, that nicotine is the addictive agent in cigarettes. Their argument probably still centers around the fact that many people continue to have intense cravings for cigarettes for weeks and months, and even years after quitting. Mistakenly believing nicotine is the culprit.

That however, is proof positive that the addiction to smoking is not an addiction to nicotine. The cravings are for the missing "feel good chemical" that the brain dished out whenever a smoker lit up and felt that false sense of pleasure (s)he was convinced (s)he was getting from the cigarette. Nicotine is gone in 3 days!

When smokers learn to alter their behavior by manipulating their supply of dopamine in a positive and pleasurable manner in place of their addictive smoking habit, they can quit without any cravings whatsoever. Consequently, with or without nicotine, their cravings for a smoke begin to rapidly disappear. Those who attempt to quit using nicotine replacement therapies and will power alone, are not able to produce a release of dopamine, because they don’t think the experience is pleasurable.

So here’s a kick in the pants for you, if you use a nicotine supplement to quit smoking, you’ll still face severe cravings because dopamine was released not only because of an input of nicotine, but also because of the physical act of lighting up a smoke and feeling the smoke enter your lungs. If you want to quit without all those horrible cravings you need to learn how to get a substitute dopamine fix that’s stronger than the release you get from smoking. That’s what I’m dedicated to helping you achieve.

To shorten an already very long article and make a long story a a wee bit shorter, let me just say in closing…I say hurray for the Supreme Court if they rule in the tobacco industry’s favor. Because, that way, our rights under the constitution continue serving us all. The FDA already has the power to remove every single cancer causing chemical from cigarettes by law. All they have to do, is do their job and suddenly the first amendment free speech lawsuit is immaterial.

People have made the wrong argument against cigarettes for far too long. Stop worrying about the addictive nature of cigarettes and start worrying more about banning the chemicals in them that kill. If smokers want to continue smoking nicotine, great! Let them. Just make sure it’s packaged without the poisons and they can smoke to their hearts content!

In the meantime, if you’ve made up your mind to quit smoking, and if you’re struggling to quit, and want to find an easier way to do it, without drugs, pills, shots, sprays, lozenges or gum, and without stress or fear of weight gain, or the many dangerous and possibly deadly side effects of Chantix or similar drugs, then I highly recommend you give hypnosis a try!

Designer Quit Smoking Drugs Not Worth Risking Your Health Or Sanity!

If you’re wanting to quit smoking, there’s a few things you need to consider before you decide to use either Chantix or any nicotine replacement product.

For years, the medical community has accepted nicotine as the cause of addiction to smoking. However, new evidence indicates nicotine really is not the real addictive element in cigarettes at all. While not coming right out and saying so, Pfizer, Inc., the manufacturer of the latest "wonder drug" Chanitx alludes to this on their main page.

So what does that mean? It means attacking nicotine in order to quit smoking is an exercise in futility! It’s the very reason why quitting smoking remains one of the most difficult things anyone will ever attempt. Because nicotine is not the enemy when attempting to quit…something else is!

Let’s try to cut through the piles of crap surrounding so-called "nicotine addiction". While the mechanism by which humans form habits and addictions is quite complex, and has until recently been largely misunderstood, we now know that the central player in the process of forming addictions is a chemical released in the brain called dopamine. Dopamine’s primary function is to reward us for behaviors that are beneficial to our survival.

When everything is working the way it’s supposed to it’s a good thing.

However, in the case of drug and alcohol addictions, the process gets confused and allows us to form a very negative and actually harmful habit that becomes uncontrollable. How this happens is very complex and beyond the scope of this article. If you want to learn more about how dopamine actually helps us form habits and addictions then get a copy of my Free Ebook and Learn How to Quit Smoking Cigarettes Now!

What is important is that Pfizer Inc., recognizes dopamine as the true addictive chemical and attempts to overcome it. A truly noble effort deserving an A+ by anyone’s reckoning, if it were not for the dangerous side effects inherent in it’s use.

Let’s take a closer look at this miracle working "wonder drug."

Pfizer claims Chantix scored a 44% success rate in clinical test studies conducted by them, vs. an 18% success rate achieved by a control test group using a placebol. That’s a little more than twice as effective as the placebo group who believed they were receiving the actual product. Seems a pretty impressive feat on the surface.

However, two very interesting points to consider emerge from that study that seem to be lost on the casual observer.

Point one, 18% of those participating in the study succeeded in quitting smoking using nothing more than the belief that they were actually taking a product that would help them quit smoking. That, by itself is one very amazing statistic, because…

If we compare that to some generally accepted statistics found at wikipedia.org and numerous other authority websites on the subject of quitting smoking, we’ll see just how amazing that statistic is. Considering only 3-5% of quit smoking attempts by willpower alone succeed for at least 6 months, and yet, 90% of all those who actually succeed at quitting smoking for more than 6 months did so by quitting cold turkey.

So? A placebo succeeds 18% of the time while intense willpower attempts only succeed on average 5% of the time.

According to Wiki, Zyban, coupled with intense counseling increased the odds of quitting to around 30%. That ranked the highest in all prescriptive quit smoking assistance products prior to Chantix, but the placebo group did nearly as well as the Zyban group, presumably, without the side effects or intense counseling or the intense and dangerous side effects listed by Pfizer for their wonder drug.

The second point is this, one statistic that is not covered by any study, government or other, is that of quitting smoking using hypnosis. If you search the internet for statistics on the subject you’ll find claims ranging from 60% to 90% effectiveness.

It’s safe to say, hypnosis will succeed at least 18% of the time…Pfizer proved that! Since that was the success rate reported by Chantix for their control group. Obviously, those individuals succeeded based on a form of self hypnosis. They believed they were taking Chantix.

My instincts tell me, that number could easily have tripled under the care of a competent hypnotherapist, in far less time than the 9 to 12 week Chanitx program required. So I believe it’s safe to say that the industry claims of 60% to 90% success with hypnosis are indeed factual.

So, why do I believe Chantix is not the best choice for quitting, even though it boasts a superior success rate to Zyban or quitting cold turkey…and is only slightly more than twice as effective as a placebo?

In short. Chantix isn’t safe!

Watch this illuminating video that exposes the potential deadly side effects of this extremely dangerous drug, presented by the BBC News Network in the UK. Click Here to view>>>> Secrets Of The Drugs Trials

Further still, consider what Pfizer itself has to say in it’s drastically watered down public release disclaimer about it’s own product, this is really scairy stuff.

"Some people have had changes in behavior, hostility, agitation, depressed mood, suicidal thoughts or actions while using CHANTIX to help them quit smoking. Some people had these symptoms when they began taking CHANTIX, and others developed them after several weeks of treatment or after stopping CHANTIX. If you, your family, or caregiver notice agitation, hostility, depression, or changes in behavior, thinking, or mood that are not typical for you, or you develop suicidal thoughts or actions, anxiety, panic, aggression, anger, mania, abnormal sensations, hallucinations, paranoia, or confusion, stop taking CHANTIX and call your doctor right away. Also tell your doctor about any history of depression or other mental health problems before taking CHANTIX, as these symptoms may worsen while taking CHANTIX.

Some people can have serious skin reactions while taking CHANTIX, some of which can become life-threatening. These can includerash, swelling, redness, and peeling of the skin. Some people can have allergic reactions to CHANTIX, some of which can belife-threatening and include: swelling of the face, mouth, and throat that can cause trouble breathing. If you have these symptoms or have a rash with peeling skin or blisters in your mouth, stop taking CHANTIX and get medical attention right away.

The most common side effects include nausea (30%), sleep problems, constipation, gas, and/or vomiting. If you have side effects that bother you or don’t go away, tell your doctor."

Wow! Those statements were based on the actual results of their clinical studies. Let me repeat that…Actual results!

Now compare those symptoms with the symptoms of someone simply quitting cold turkey: During the first 3 days of eliminating nicotine from the system…possible headaches, dizziness, irritability, lack of concentration, restlessness, blurred vision and nausea. These symptoms begin to disappear on day 4 of being nicotine free, but do cravings cease after 3 days? Not unless you are able to control and redirect your dopamine addiction.

What’s the lesson here? If you quit cold turkey, stay home, don’t drive, and don’t operate heavy equipment during the first 3 days. Conversely, if you use Chantix, be prepared to be seriously ill or even possilby die, and be prepared to suffer all the cold turkey symptoms for the entire 9 to 12 week program.

Whether to use it or not seems a no brainer to me.

Having been a heavy chain smoker for 18 years and finding a painless method to quit smoking in 3 days, I’m here to tell you that quitting smoking is extremely easy and painless once you learn how to overcome your dopamine addiction!

If you’ve made up your mind to quit smoking, and if you’re struggling to quit, and want to find an easier way to do it, without drugs, pills, shots, sprays, lozenges or gum, and without stress or fear of weight gain, or the many dangerous and possibly deadly side effects of Chantix or similar drugs, then I highly recommend you give hypnosis a try!

If, on the other hand, you are convinced you can’t quit smoking without a nicotine crutch because you either believe you can’t quit, or you don’t want to quit but just want to save money while continuing to smoke, then click here >>Safer Smokeless Cigarette Alternative << and learn how to cut your smoking bill in half.

Either way, you have my profoundest wishes for a long and healthy life without dieing from smoking.

In fact you can do so with absolutely no stress, no cravings, no weight gain, no drugs, shots, pills, patches, sprays or gums.

Giving up the smoking addiction seems to be one of the most difficult things to do for thousands of smokers who want to kick the habit. So why is quitting smoking so difficult?

That’s a complicated question with a complicated answer, but let’s start right here:

You Cannot break an addiction to something you are not really addicted to in the first place! You are being lied to about what you are really addicted to. Any attempt to break your smoking addiction based on the false belief that you are addicted to nicotine will ultimately fail…that’s a 95% probability. Why? Because you are not attacking the real culprit responsible for your addiction, and you will continue to be addicted to the real culprit.

There is a conspiracy to keep you convinced that you are addicted to nicotine, and not just by the tobacco companies either. As long as you continue to believe you are addicted to nicotine, you will never discover what really keeps you hooked on smoking.

Consequently, you cannot learn how easily the real addiction is to break…and you will remain hostage to both the tobacco companies and major pharmaceutical companies who continue to push nicotine and nicotine quit smoking aids down your throat.

The conspiracy is real, and whether you know it or not, the government has a huge hand in it. Here’s a fact that most people overlook, but it’s very obvious once you think about it. The government makes a very healthy chunk of revenue from your smoking addiction. They continue to raise taxes repeatedly, both on you, and on the cigarette manufacturers to increase their revenue whenever it strikes their fancy. Furthermore, our elected officials in congress recieve millions of dollars from tobacco and pharmaceutical lobbyists to keep the money flowing. They simply want to make money from your "n<strike>icotine</strike>" addiction.

No matter what you are led to believe, or how much lip service they pay to the contrary, the government has a vested interest in your continued "<strike>nicotine</strike>" addiction. The truth is, the government couldn’t care less whether you get your "<strike>nicotine</strike>" fix from smoking or from a supplement, as long as they get a piece of the pie. It’s big business for the tobacco industry, the government and the pharmaceutical industry. If that were not so, cigarettes would have been banned long ago, along with the hundreds of other harmful drugs that they actually did take action against that are now illegal. Furthermore, the government is never going to ban nicotine.

The government has the power to take action if they truly want to. Take the once popular diet supplement Ephedrine as an example, they had no difficulty banning it, and they did so with far less reason or science behind their decision than exists in the case of the known dangers of smoking. They banned it due to a handful of deaths that were "suspected" of being related to Ephedrine, yet they continue to ignore the hundreds of thousands of annual deaths that are absolutely known to be the result of smoking.

If the government truly cared about your health, they’d do to tobacco what they did to Ephedrine. In fact, they could have done any number of more effective things than pass a law requiring that silly little health warning on the side of every pack of cigarettes. That surgeon general’s warning has had next to no effect on eliminating the health risks from smoking. No one sees or pays any attention to it anymore, if they ever did at all. However, the government chooses not to ban the manufacture of cigarettes, (more accurately…nicotine) because nicotine represents vital revenue they are not willing to part with.

I’m not going to bore you with a ton of statistical facts about the dangers of smoking. Lord knows you can find enough statistics plastered all over the internet if you really think you want or need more facts to decide to quit smoking.
